Description
The Application: Utilize Universal Design for Learning PreK-12 Live Virtual Class is designed for educators who understand the UDL core concepts, the UDL design process and are ready to apply the UDL Guidelines to practice. Participants will apply UDL to the design of their own learning experiences and environments (in-person or virtual).
As a participant, you will choose a context to ground your learning—a situation you've encountered that is challenging. Examples of these contexts include authentic professional learning goals, an instructional problem of practice, or a more complex situation that requires further understanding and a potential shift. You will use a variety of design tools to build your reflective practice in designing contextual solutions.
Using the UDL framework and its practical guidelines, participants will:
- Use the UDL Guidelines to design learning experiences
- Use the UDL Guidelines to analyze and redesign learning environments
- Understand the relationship between design and expert learning
- Design for engagement
- Understand the research-base of the UDL Guidelines and Checkpoints
This is a live virtual class hosted on Zoom. Please come to the session ready to participate in conversations, breakout sessions, and session activities. Upon completion of the live virtual class, participants will receive an official CAST certificate.
Who should enroll?
This class is designed for educators who are or would like to be leaders in the application of UDL, supporting others to apply UDL in their contexts. This can include instructional coaches, teacher leaders, UDL teams (general education teachers, special education teachers, curriculum coordinators, etc.), principals, and other administrators. Individuals or teams looking to strengthen their practice and application of UDL are also welcome.
