Year 2 Report on the New Hampshire UDL Innovation Network Released

CAST today released the Year 2 Report on the New Hampshire UDL Innovation Network, a groundbreaking collaboration with the New Hampshire Department of Education to support teachers in applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to practice.
The Network draws participants from all 25 of the state’s school administrative units, representing a cross-section of roles including general education (44%), special education (15%), administration (23%), and related roles (18%).
“Universal Design for Learning is New Hampshire’s way to help educators across our state tackle the wide-ranging needs of all our students,” says Frank Edelblut, NH Commissioner of Education. “In its second year, the New Hampshire UDL Innovation Network helped 350 participants from 42 New Hampshire schools better serve our variable learners.”
Activities and support include full-school trainings, virtual workshops, instructional rounds, UDL Team meetings, learning design studios, individualized team support, and the development of “focal schools” whose UDL journey is closely monitored and documented.
“New Hampshire has mapped out an ambitious plan for creating equitable opportunities and supports for all learners,” says CAST Chief Executive Officer Linda Gerstle. “The New Hampshire story will be a model and inspiration to colleagues across the country.”
