CAST Co-President Gabrielle Rappolt-Schlichtmann briefed members of Congress and Congressional staff at a breakfast meeting on Capitol Hill today on the work CAST is doing to improve education for students with dyslexia.
Rappolt-Schlichtmann participated in a two-day briefing (July 14-15) sponsored by a coalition of organizations including Decoding Dyslexia, the National Center on Learning Disabilities, Learning Ally, Learning Disabilities Association of America, Parents Education Network, Benetech, Diverse Learners Coalition, Eye to Eye, New Profit, Common Sense and others.
Representatives of those organizations, along with parents and children, spoke with Members of Congress and staff to raise awareness about evidence-based interventions that are improving learning outcomes for students with learning and attention issues and to encourage Congress to make the needs of such students a priority in legislation and funding.
