Memorable Experience(s) with CAST:
My favorite memory of CAST is my first interaction with CAST during the second semester of my senior year of college; I became obsessed with CAST and UDL and committed myself to trying my best to get an internship at CAST.
I went to Reed College and soon discovered that David Rose also went there, so I spent days looking for his email online. I finally found it and sent him an email with the subject: “Interest in CAST, Advice for a Fellow Reedie?” He replied, “How great to hear from you. I am surprised you found me...” David and I had the most magical and endearing conversation, which changed my life trajectory.
During that time, I was in the midst of my grad school application process, where my applications were being reviewed. During my call with David, I off-handedly mentioned that I applied to Harvard's Graduate School of Education, to which he asked which program, and I told him the Learning Design Innovation and Technology program, to which he said his good friend Joe Blatt leads that program! It was a wonderful moment, and my conversation with David Rose contributed to my acceptance to HGSE, which led to me taking one of my favorite classes ever with my internship supervisor, Jenna Gravel!
I feel eternally grateful to David Rose and the CAST team.
