Melissa has a passion for re-designing schools and curriculum in order to meet the needs of all learners. As a Senior Professional Learning Specialist, she works with school teams to rethink curriculum, instruction and environments to provide access for all, using the UDL framework as a tool for redesign.
Melissa brings her experience as a teacher, licensed social worker, school leader and school designer to the work. She has spent much of her career refining personalized instruction, shifting to competency-based models, building trauma-sensitive school environments, implementing social and emotional learning and instituting restorative justice practices for service to off-track youth. She believes strongly in access and equity and has a passion for working with students who have traditionally been marginalized.
