CAST works with stakeholders in educational policy, publishing, administration, research, and practice to explore practical applications of Universal Design for Learning.
National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS)
With support from the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education, CAST led a national blue-ribbon panel in drafting the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) to guide the development and distribution of digital instructional materials.CAST now leads two OSEP-funded Centers to further develop and support the implementation of the Standard, which is now part of federal special-education law.

National Center on Accessing the General Curriculum (NCAC)
With federal support, CAST directed NCAC (1999-2004) to provide a vision of how to weave together new curricula, teaching practices, and policies to improve access to the general curriculum by students with disabilities.
