Jake joined CAST in 2009 as a Software Developer. His background in secondary education and technology led to an interest in the relationship between learning and engagement with a focus on the engaging features of commercial video games. Before joining CAST, he taught mathematics and computer science for the Department of Defense Schools in Japan. His rich and varied background includes consulting to Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative where he designed a computer game to promote ethics, working as a Teaching Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and chairing a mathematics department.

He holds an Ed.M. in Technology, Innovation, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.S. in Computer Science from Yale University.
